La Bella is an easy going alpaca. She is easy to work with and has a great disposition. . She is a solid foundation female and an important part of a dark breeding program. Not only is she a deep and solidly true black, she is 3/4 Peruvian carrying the bloodlines of Peruvian Hemingway and a "soupcon" of Chilean from The Silversmith. Excellent diversity and color with this young proven female.
La Bella has correct conformation and nice crimp throughout her entire blanket and neck area. Her lustrous fiber has a soft handle, sporting a 19.9 micron count at yearling age. When worked into yarn, her fiber is fast to sell. Her uniformity has been consistent as she has matured and this is reflected in her very usable fleece.
La Bella has given us two crias, one dark brown female and one dark brown male from our own Calvin Klein. La Bella caused us no worries as a first time dam, birthing unassisted and unobserved. Very nice of her to do both of those things and have a female the first time out! Both of La Bella's crias are beautiful, easy going alpaca with solid growth rates, sound confirmation and fleece characteristics. La Bella's daughter, Ailsa, is really showing a lot of continued potential in all aspects - we are very pleased with her. We are also excited about the prospect of showing her son, Duncan Brown this year. We are delighted with his conformation and fiber and his density is truly amazing.
We have chosen to rebreed La Bella to Calvin Klein for a spring 2009 cria and hope for the same outstanding result we got in 2008.
