Fall is my favorite time of year on the farm. The high heat and humidity of the summer have gone and all the animals, both four legged and two, are much more comfortable in the cooler temperatures. The fall colors are beautiful and with our mild weather there is still grazing available for alpacas and horses alike. Everyone is content and happy to enjoy the fall sunshine. There is still time for some sunbathing, at least Emily thinks so! Everyone else seems more intent on eating.

The males of course are more interested in the females. Wavecrest is at full attention!

The only downside of fall is that winter follows on, so it’s time to get out the heated water buckets and trough heaters, decide who will winter where, make sure the hay supply is topped off and do all the other chores to make sure the animals are comfortable in the cold weather which is no doubt right around the corner. Hopefully there is still more of fall to enjoy.
