Ailsa was the first cria from our young, true black foundation female, La Bella Moretta. Ailsa is a model of her dam, being almost indentical in conformation with just a fuller top knot and more overall coverage. She is a true dark brown beauty with a gentle, calm spirit like La Bella.
Ailsa is carrying a lot of color in her lines, and it represents a nice blend of the Chilean and Peruvian cross.Ailsa carries PPeruvian Dominquez on her sire's side and Snowmass Peruvian Lakota, a Heminway son, on her dam's side. Ailsa's dam delivered her second cria this spring, a dark brown male , who is as solid and fine as they come. We are hopeful, with Ailsa's dam carrying such a heavy color trait, that the deep color will keep on flowing in her cria.
Ailsa took third place at her first show outing in 2008 at the MOPACA Invitational Show and judge Charlene Friedman remarked on her fineness and uniformity.
In October 2009, Ailsa produced her first cria, a beautiful taupe female, by our herdsire Calvin Klein, now sadly deceased. After birthing unassisted, Ailsa nonchalanty went back to eating her hay. She has proved to be an attentive and nurturing mom with plenty of milk for her baby as well as for others who sneak some extra!
Ailsa has been exposed to our young black herdsire Radica for a fall 2010 cria. She will be ready to come to your farm in the spring once her baby is weaned.
